Bluestone is a form of limestone native to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, one of the largest limestone deposits in the world. When first quarried, the stone is dark blue in color then fades to white over time. But while the appearance changes, the integrity of the stone is never compromised…it remains as strong and durable as the day it was quarried. Used as the foundation of the many historical buildings of the founders’ alma mater, James Madison University, Shenandoah Valley Bluestone is synonymous for high quality, value and endurance…all qualities emblematic of our ethos.
